When playing as Layla Hassan, the protagonist of the modern-day sequences, you will have the opportunity to browse through her laptop and read a string of emails.
When reading one particular email from her brother Ramy, you will find the two siblings discussing the COVID pandemic. As you continue reading, you’ll also come across several other emails that make vague references towards the pandemic.
Hailing from the county of Essex in England, fans of the band The Prodigy will be in for quite the surprise, as Keith Flint makes an small appearance in the game.Hidden a way just Northwest of the center of Essex, you will find a band playing to a small crowd of people. The song being played makes reference to the lyrics “Smack my bishop!”, which is a reference to one the bands most popular songs. Upon speaking with Keith, he will proceed to give you a World Event that’s funnily enough named “The Prodigy“.
Dark Souls Bonfire
Located just East of Ledcestre, you will find the ruins of an old building.
When exploring these ruins you will come across a small bonfire with a large sword sticking out of it.If you have ever played Dark Souls, you’ll be all too familiar with the series defining reference. That’s not all though, as you’ll also be able to kneel and mediate by the bonfire to restore your energy.
Hobbiton – The Lord of the Ring
Found in the Glowecesterscire region, you will find a town called Glowcester. If you travel West of this town and head over the river, you will come across an area that closely resembles Hobbiton.
The Legend of Zelda’s Cuccos
When exploring near the large fortress that can be found in the Dunwic area of the East Anglia region, you will hear a cry for help coming from a prison cell. As you get closer, you will find several chickens surrounding a skeleton inside one of the cells.
While this doesn’t appear to be anything crazy, it is when Eivor is to hit one of the chickens that the whole group will turn and attack, which is a reference to the Cuccos that appear in The Legend of Zelda.
Game of Thrones
Found when exploring the fortress in the Dunwic area of the East Anglia region, you will find a room that looks identical to the prison that Tyrion Lannister was held in during his stay at House Arryn.When investigate the room, you will find a note that reads some of Tyrion’s very own words.
When traveling along the river bank, not too far from the ruins of Venois in Ledecestrescire region, you will hear a woman’s voice coming from a nearby tower.
When approaching the tower, you will find a guard that is blocking the door to the tower, who claims to be the woman’s sworn protector. After speaking with the man, he will engage in combat with you but won’t put up much of a fight. as he will eventually yield to your attacks and leave the area.After speaking with the woman inside of the tower, she’ll suggest that you become her new hero. At this point, we suggest leaving as her conversations will only become weirder.
Harry Potter’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
When exploring Ravensthorpe, you will come across a quest that requires you to find several pages to a book. Upon finding all of the pages, you will learn that the book is actually titled “Fantastic Fish and Where to Find Them”.If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you’ll know that this is a reference to the popular Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Ring of Power – The Lord of the Rings
Located on the Western side of Glowecestre, you will find a small house along the edge of the river. Using Odin’s Sight, you will need to find a hidden key that’s located nearby in order to open the door to the house. You will find this key inside of a box, just behind the house.Once you have located the key, head inside the building and you will find a note on top of the table, along the wall. Upon reading the note, it will become very clear that it references to the much loved Lord of the Rings character, Bilbo Baggins.To further this claim, you will also find a small ring sitting next to the letter, which looks identical to the famous Ring of Power.
Harry Potter’s Strange List
Located in a small building just Southeast of St Paul’s Cathedral in Lunden, you will find a building that is guarded by snake. Upon defeating the snake, you will learn that the door to the building is locked and will need to find a key in order to open it.Using Odin’s Sight, locate the key on top of the nearby balcony and pick it up. Using the key, enter into what appears to be Voldemort’s hideout.
When exploring the room, you will find a small wooden table that is covered in random items. Upon closer inspection, you will find a note that lists what appears to be Voldemort’s Horcruxes.
When taking over the old settlement early on in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you’ll have the option to build a Trading Post once you have earned enough materials.
Once the shop has been built, you will find a list behind the shop. This list contains four items that were never collected by customers – but, there’s a catch. These four items are all excessively heavy, as they range from a Stone Slab, an Anvil, and even a Crate of Bowls.
Each of the four items on the list will have delivery instructions listed. So, after speaking with Yanli – the owner of the Trading Post – you’ll be tasked with delivering the items to customers for a small reward. It is worth mentioning, that these locations aren’t close and due the items weights, you have to walk each of them to their delivery destination.
As you can imagine, it’s hard not to see this quest as a clear reference to Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding.
Located North of Repton in the Snotinghamscire region, you will come across a hooded man that’s wielding a bow and arrow as he investigates an ambush scene.The more that you speak with the man, the more clear that it becomes that he’s a reference to Robin Hood.
Hidden away on Layla’s laptop during the modern-day sequences, you will find an audio file that features the voice of the original Assassin’s Creed protagonist, Desmond Miles.
