Thank your own personal deity — possibly The Dragon God — it’s Friday. Along with the usual deals today, I’d like to draw your attention to something dear to the black void in my chest that ought to hold an organ. Quake II, id’s seminal shooter, has just been remastered and released upon Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox. (Steam users who own it get a free upgrade, too!)
I’ve been shredding Strogg in it for a bit, and my evening is now booked solid for some co-op (4P-split or online cross-play, undecided). While the term ‘Boomer Shooter’ doesn’t resonate with me (my oldies are actual 1946—64 Baby Boomers, and would rather eat earwax than play The Computers), I will say this antiquated AAA scrubs up well. Worth a look, especially on GamePass. God, I’ve missed railguns.
Come and experience the original two Hogwarts Legacies, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 remastered. Longer in the tooth, release-wise, but the co-op and plastic fantastic visuals are more or less timeless.
Not a phenomenally deep discount, but it’s the best price I’ve seen for a copy of what will be the most important PC gaming release of 2023 (this side of Baldur’s Gate 3).
Well, this is ridiculous value for money in terms of gameplay hours you’ll be getting. More importantly, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a resounding achievement in world building, environment, and engaging gameplay. A rock solid 8/10.
Experience state-of-the-art gameplay as you live out your NBA dreams in NBA 2K24’s immersive game modes, including MyCAREER, MyTEAM, MyNBA, not to mention crossplay, and the new PROPlay technology for upgraded visual authenticity.
