If you head downstairs from where V’s apartment is, you’ll come across two cops banging on someone’s door. They’re trying to get their friend, a former NCPD cop, to come to the door. After having no luck, if you wait around long enough, they’ll walk off to the side. You can head over to them to start the Happy Together side job. This will trigger a conversation that you can start.
The cops will then ask you to check in on Barry. Make your way over to his apartment door, 0613, and try to get his attention. He won’t respond, but this will update the side job objective to try again in a few hours. Fortunately, you can skip time from the menu. If you skip at least three hours, you can knock on the door again. This time he’ll actually respond and come to the door.
There’s a unique option you can pick here requiring level 4 Body. However, you can follow these dialogue choices below as well to prevent any issues from happening.
- I just wanna talk.
- Your friends asked me to drop by.
- [Sit] I lost someone too.
After picking these choices, make sure to pick every optional dialogue choice while talking to Barry. If you don’t, you’ll get stuck with a bad ending failing the Happy Together side job. Optional choices are written in a blue color and won’t progress the conversation. After picking every blue choice, here are the safe dialogue choices:
- What about your friends on the force?
- Everyone has their limits.
- [Stand]
Find Andrew’s Niche Before Talking to the Cops
So long as you pick the optional dialogue choices while speaking with Barry, you’ll have this new optional objective. If you skip this side objective and talk to the cops immediately, you’ll fail the mission. Therefore, open up your map and zoom all the way out to see the objective in Westbrook, North Oak.
Once you make it to the area where Andrew’s niche is, search along the walls in the yellow minimap area. Keep checking the glowing blue areas on each wall until you see one with a message underneath it. If you’re having trouble finding it, it’s near the bottom left corner of the yellow area as shown in the screenshot below.
After reading Barry’s message at the niche, you’ll learn that Andrew was a tortoise. Return back to Barry’s apartment where the cops are waiting nearby. You can fast travel from here directly to Megabuilding H10: Atrium. Now when talking to the cops, make sure you tell Mendez, “I visited Andrew’s grave.” The other choice about Barry being depressed fails the mission.
Once your conversation with the two cops ends, they’ll head over to Barry’s apartment to talk to him. Mendez convinces him to open the door and Barry lets them in. This completes the Happy Together side job.
Happy Together Bad Ending
Here’s what happens if you immediately speak with the cops instead of going to Andrew’s niche. You’ll get an objective to talk to Barry in a few hours after speaking with the cops. Returning to his apartment shows Mendez on the floor surrounded by blood with the apartment door covered in police tape.
